One Day Paragliding Lesson
Our BHPA approved One Day Paragliding Lessons are an ideal fun way to give paragliding a go, and start learning to fly solo with expert instruction from licensed BHPA instructors from the ground up, and then see if you want to carry on to upgrade to our 2 Day, 5 Day or 10 Day Paragliding Courses and work towards achieving your BHPA Elementary Pilot and Club Pilot ratings.
What happens on a One Day Paragliding Lesson?
On a One Day Paragliding Lesson with us you would normally start with an introduction to the sport and the equipment, and learn how to set up the equipment and clip-in to the paragliding harness.
Then you will do some ground based training with the paraglider, learning how to inflate the wing and control it on the ground. This is known as 'ground handling' and can take a lot of practice to get right - many think it could be a sport all on it's own, and there are even paragliding DVDs dedicated to the art of ground handling!
We will explain and demonstrate the techniques of how to inflate, launch and land a paraglider safely - skills you will of course need to get the hang of before you can fly yourself. Depending on the wind conditions you will learn the 'forward' or 'reverse' launch technique. Then it will be your turn to put into practice all that you have learnt so far!
Depending on your individual progress and the weather conditions (as always!) on the day, you would then possibly move on to doing your first ‘ground skims’ and hopefully end the day by achieving your first short solo flights!
Exactly how far you progress will depend on many factors including, for example, your individual ability and the weather conditions on the day. Most people however will get their feet off the ground and into the air by the end of the day!
